Jose's second visit

Tonight marks Jose’s second visit to our acting studio in San Antonio. Since he’s new to the industry and has never had audition coaching before, I want to make sure he’s getting the most out of his membership.

For tonight’s session, I wrote a short comedic scene designed to challenge him to think differently and explore his character. The goal isn’t just to memorize lines, but to understand the beats, make choices, and learn how to adjust his performance.

One of my favorite things about working with new actors is their willingness to experiment. There’s no pushback, no established habits to break. When I give Jose direction, he takes it and runs with it.

That process builds confidence. He learns to take direction, apply notes, explore different characters, and eventually discover the types of roles that suit him best.

I’m having a blast building this studio from scratch again. And honestly, working with actors who are just getting started is one of the most rewarding parts of it.
